Public rail trails, multi-use pathways, and on-roads bicycle facilities offer communities a means of safe, convenient transportation and keep the essential links within a community open to all.
Rail Trails, spacious sidewalks, and greenway trails promote health and fitness by offering adults and children the opportunity to integrate exercise into their daily trips to work, school, the library, or shopping. Such regular exercise reduces the risk of disease, builds muscular strength and flexibility. Preserving abandoned rail corridors as public trails also offer future generations the chance to experience and learn about the history of America.
Here in Lake County, we are working to make rail trails, pathways and bicycle facilities a reality.
