 North Hancock Traffic Corridor Safety Study

Project Background

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners, in cooperation with City of Clermont, City of Minneola, Sumter Community College South Lake Campus, South Lake Hospital, Citizen Groups and Other Interested Parties along North Hancock Road, is conducting a Corridor Traffic Study to review traffic operations at seven intersections along Hancock Road within the Cities of Clermont and Minneola. This Corridor Traffic Study will identify and evaluate safety and improvement alternatives for the intersections of N. Hancock Road with Turkey Farm Road, County Road 50, North Ridge Blvd., Diamond Club Drive, Oakley Seaver, Daryl M. Carter Blvd. and Legends Way.

Improvements being evaluated for safety and deficiencies include additional turn lanes, traffic operation, traffic signals, modification of driveways, access management and median modifications.

This study has been completed. See final report below.

Public Involvement

It is important to Lake County, the Cities of Clermont and Minneola that the interested public is provided opportunities for information exchanges. Throughout the course of the study, the public will have the opportunity to learn up-to-date information regarding the study, ask questions and interact with the Lake County Public Works Department staff.

A presentation to the Board of County Commissioners is scheduled for May 22, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Lake County Administration Building, Board Chambers, located at 315 W. Main St. in Tavares. View postcard invitation.

Project Schedule

The project follows the outlined schedule shown below. Data collection efforts began in October 2011 and final recommendations will be presented to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners in May 2012. The project will conclude with improvement recommendations that can be constructed once funding becomes available.
