The calendars will be available in Tavares starting November 27th at the Lake County Solid Waste Admin office at 13130 County Landfill Rd. and the Lake County Water Lab at 28432 Lady of the Lakes Ave. Checks can be made payable to Lake County Board of County Commissioners.
The Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program is a volunteer program that helps to preserve and enhance the County’s lakes. It is similar in some aspects to an adopt-a-road program.
The Adopt-a-Lake Program encourages local civic organizations, individuals and fraternal and business groups to adopt a segment of a lake's shoreline. Unlike an adopt-a-road program where litter cleanup is the sole component, the Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program is comprised of three separate components: Water-Quality Monitoring, Education and Pollution Prevention.
All an organization needs to get started is volunteers who are in good physical shape responsible and interested in helping to keep Lake County's communities clean and beautiful. Procedures and safety policies are in place to protect volunteers. There are many other benefits to participating in the Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program.
To sign up for the Adopt-a-Lake Program, call 352-253-1659 or fill out an online inquiry.
EPA's Office of Water launched a web clearinghouse for Lake Shoreland Protection Resources. The clearinghouse, which includes links to fact sheets, webcasts, videos, and other helpful resources for lakeshore protection, is part of an outreach campaign to educate the public and others about the key findings of the National Lakes Assessment (NLA).
