Educational forums on Dec. 19 to provide information about new Medicare Part D prescription-drug program

TAVARES — The Lake County Elder Affairs Coordinating Council would to like remind local elders about two upcoming Medicare Part D educational forums on Monday, Dec. 19, at Minneola City Hall, located at 800 N. U.S. Highway 27. The forums are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

At the two forums, experts from the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration and SHINE, a volunteer group that advises elders on insurance issues, will share details about the benefits of the new program. The agency representatives will also explain who is eligible for the new program, how to apply and how to get free help when making decisions about the program.

Elderly residents who are seeking information about enrollment in the new prescription-drug program are urged to attend. Seating is limited for each session to the first 275 guests. Light refreshments will be served.

The forums are presented by the Lake County Elder Affairs Coordinating Council, state Rep. Hugh Gibson, Mid-Florida Community Services, Mid-Florida Area Agency on Aging, Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation of Lake County and South Lake Hospital
