TAVARES — Due to the unfortunate events still unfolding in the Paisley area of Lake County, the Comprehensive Planning Division has decided to cancel the public meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 10, at Spring Creek Elementary School.
According to Gregg Welstead, Director of the Department of Growth Management, information on time, date and location of the rescheduled event will be forthcoming after the tragic situation is resolved in the area.
For more information, log on to www.lakecountyfl.gov/2025, call (352) 343-9632 or e-mail email@example.com. The three previously scheduled public meetings for the comprehensive plan are to proceed as planned. In the first two public meetings, Feb. 7 and 8, in Leesburg and Astatula more than 150 citizens attended to voice their opinion on how Lake County should develop 20 years from now.
Required by law, the comprehensive plan is the foundation for local planning as it acts as an outline of the community's vision and priorities.
The task of drafting the new comprehensive plan will be a partnership between Lake County citizens, municipalities, county government and other local and regional entities. Upon completion, the new plan titled “Planning Horizon 2025” will provide flexible guidelines for policymakers, land managers and land users about how to conserve, rehabilitate or develop an area.
Planning Horizon 2025 will stipulate the ultimate goals of efficient transportation, adequate employment, affordable housing, needed capital improvements and access to clean air, water and open space for the next 20 years.
The remaining three meetings are from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and are as follows:
- Friday, Feb. 11 — Lost Lake Elementary School, 1901 Johns Lake Road, Clermont (For residents in the Clermont, Four Corners, Mascotte, Green Swamp and Groveland areas)
- Tuesday, Feb. 15 — Eustis Heights Elementary School, 310 W. Taylor Ave., Eustis (For residents in the Umatilla, Tavares, Eustis, Mount Dora, Mt. Plymouth and Sorrento areas)
