TAVARES — Lake County officials want to remind residents of a public meeting set for Tuesday, March 15, to inform concerned citizens about preliminary results from a traffic planning study being conducted in the Minneola Ridge area.
The public meeting will be held at Minneola City Hall, 800 N. U.S. Highway 27, starting at 6 p.m. Potential roadway improvements for the area were previously discussed at a Jan. 11 workshop of Lake County Board of County Commissioners. During the workshop, the Board requested the Department of Public Works conduct the area-wide traffic planning study.
The purpose of the study is to develop the future transportation system needed to serve approved and pending developments in the area. Primarily, the study area is east of U.S. Highway 27, north of State Road 50, south of County Road 561A and west of County Road 455.
At the prior commission workshop, Commissioner Bob Pool expressed the importance of including resident concerns in the traffic study. “By any means we will not exclude the homeowners in the decision-making process,” he said.
At the public meeting March 15, representatives from the Department of Public Works and the transportation consulting firm of Tindale-Oliver and Associates will provide information about the planning study and receive comments about the proposed roadway improvements and potential development impacts. Based on comments received at this meeting, the consultant will document public comments, complete the analysis and study, and produce the final report. A presentation will then be scheduled to present the study results to the Board of County Commissioners.
