TAVARES — Lake County Manager Cindy Hall officially announced Tuesday that Citizen Support Services Division Director Allison Thall was promoted to the Director of the Lake County Department of Community Services.
“Allison brings a long, successful history of experience with Lake County and specifically with Community Services programs, including 10 years of oversight of the Section 8, SHIP and other human service program throughout the 1990s,” Hall wrote in a memorandum to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners. “Her familiarity with these programs as well as relevant outside professional experience with companion programs make her uniquely capable to lead this department.”
Last month, the Board of County Commissioners approved the County Manager’s reorganizational plan, which included changes to the Department of Community Services. The reorganized Department includes the Housing & Transportation Services Division and the sections of Veterans Services and Children’s & Elder Services and the Community Health Worker Program.
“The Department of Community Services provides for the many social, health, safety and human services needs for Lake County citizens,” said Allison Thall. “The Department works with numerous partners to improve the quality of life and is committed to the highest level of service possible.”
Thall originally worked for Lake County from 1988-1998 as Human Services Manager, providing oversight and administration to Section 8 Housing and State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP). She returned to Lake County in January 2006 as the Elder Affairs Director. In October 2007, she was promoted to director of the Citizen Support Services Division, which included Elder Affairs, Children’s Services, Veterans Services and VolunteerLAKE. Thall earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Chatham College in Pittsburg and a master’s degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
