TAVARES — Lake County 4-H’ers are celebrating National 4-H Week with a pizza social on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The event will give interested youth an opportunity to meet 4-H members and volunteers and find out more about the local 4-H program. The pizza social will include food and games.
The cost for the event is $4, which includes two slices of pizza, drinks and cookies. To register for this event, call the Lake County Extension Office at (352) 343-4101 by Monday, Oct. 12.
“In 4-H, the possibilities are endless,” said Joey Smith, a Lake County 4-H Member. “Projects range from computers to government and from going green to ‘Health Rocks.’ This week we are celebrating National 4-H Week and doing our part to get the word out.”
The Lake County 4-H program boasts more than 700 members and 250 volunteers. The fundamental 4-H ideal of practical, “learn by doing” experiences encourage youth to experiment, innovate and think independently. The programs of 4-H are offered through school-based, after-school and camp settings and within community clubs.
