Lake County Commission proclaims November as hospice month

RELEASE DATE: November 20, 2009

TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners unanimously proclaimed November 2009 as Hospice Month during its regularly scheduled meeting this week.

Cornerstone Hospice
Lake County Commissioner Linda Stewart presents Cheryl Rumbley, Community Relations Coordinator from Cornerstone Hospice, with a proclamation.

According to the proclamation, which was read into the record by Commissioner Linda Stewart, “hospices helped meet the medical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of more than 98,619 patients — adults and children — throughout Florida last year.”

Cornerstone Hospice, a local not-for-profit community healthcare organization, provides medical, nursing, emotional, spiritual, and personal care services for patients and families facing any kind of serious, complex illness. Since 1984, the organization has been known as Hospice of Lake & Sumter, but in April 2008 changed the name to Cornerstone Hospice. The organization is currently observing its 25th year of service to Central Florida.
