TAVARES — The Lake County Complete Count Committee is sponsoring a poster design contest for Lake County students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade that will help to inform citizens about the 2010 U.S. Census.
The original artwork should promote the theme “Lake County Counts” and be on a standard sheet of white paper, 8.5 x 11 inches. Winning designs will be announced at a Lake County Counts kickoff campaign in February. Winning entries will be printed and distributed throughout the community and will be posted to the Lake County Census Web page at census.lakecountyfl.gov.
The deadline to submit posters is Monday, Feb. 22. Entries will be judged by the media subcommittee of the Lake County Complete Count Committee for originality, neatness, spelling and printability. Entrants need to make sure not to trace or include copyrighted images such as book, TV or movie characters.
On the back of the poster design, entrants need to include their name, phone number, mailing address, e-mail address, school, grade level and signature of a legal guardian for entrants under the age of 16. The signature on the poster constitutes a release to reprint the attached work for public distribution and to display it in the community and on the Web site. This is a free service to residents, therefore the County cannot compensate artists. Original artwork will not be returned.
Entries can be delivered to the Lake County Administration Building, Suite 108, located at 315 W. Main St., Tavares. Entries may also be mailed to: Information Outreach, PO Box 7800, Tavares FL 32778. For more information, log on to census.lakecountyfl.gov or e-mail email@example.com.
