TAVARES — The Lake County Department of Information Technology’s divisions of Geographic Information Services (GIS) and Programming & Application Support Services recently released online a new interactive demographic map that can be used to compare population densities per square mile for all of Central Florida.
The interactive demographic map can also show population change from 2000-2009, median home value, median household income, unemployment rate, average household size and median age.
“It is an awesome interactive map that ESRI provided the data for and we tweaked,” said Kevin Willis, Director of the Lake County GIS Division. “This is the type of data that key decision makers probably find most interesting — broad-relevant information in a dashboard-like interface.”
The new interactive demographics map is available through the Lake County GIS Map Gallery at www.lakecountyfl.gov/maps/. The Lake County Map Gallery features more than four dozen maps, including those pinpointing libraries, County facilities, fire hydrant locations and voting precincts.
The Map Gallery also includes the interactive mapping Web page at http://gis.lakecountyfl.gov/gisweb/. In addition to a wealth of informational layers, the interactive map also contains information on each individual parcel in the County. Drawing stats from the Lake County Property Appraiser’s Web site, each parcel listing includes property information, such as land value and assessed value.
