TAVARES — On Tuesday, March 16, the Lake County Department of Information Technology (IT) will continue webcasting meetings of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners during the meeting scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
View the meeting webcast. Recently, IT staff from the divisions of Information Outreach and Programming & Application Support Services began experimenting with the Web site Ustream.tv. Similar to YouTube, as it provides free online video viewing services, Ustream provides a platform for live video streaming of events online.
During the three-hour March 2 County Commission meeting, more than 150 visitors tuned into the live webcasting. The average number of viewers during the entire meeting was 37. The recording of the March 2 meeting is also available to view at any time.
As the County continues to evaluate the Ustream service, it is important to remember the webcasting of County Commission meetings is in a trial phase. If it does not work as expected, IT staff says they will continue to seek other viable options. Since Ustream is a free service, the webcasts of County Commission meetings will include advertisements. The County does not endorse or support the advertisements or the products or services they offer.
Regular scheduled meetings of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners are also available to view on a tape delay on Wednesdays beginning at 7 p.m. on LSCC-TV, channel 13 (Comcast), channel 199 (Bright House) and channel 4 (Florida Cable).
The Lake County Board of County Commissioners normally meet in regular sessions the first, third and fourth Tuesday of each month in the County Commission Chambers, located on the second floor of the Lake County Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., Tavares.
