TAVARES — The Lake County Extension is encouraging local agricultural operations to participate in the Second Annual Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Conference on July 31 and Aug. 1 at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee.
The Web site (http://smallfarms.ifas.ufl.edu) for the conference is available for potential exhibitors and guests who are making plans to attend. Early registration is encouraged and the “early bird” registration deadline is July 12. There are a limited number of scholarships available for Florida small farmers to help with registration costs.
Attendance for this year’s Annual Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Conference is expected to top 1,000 farmers and agricultural professionals. The conference will feature speakers, educational sessions, exhibits of products and technologies, livestock displays, demonstrations, networking opportunities, meals of fresh foods from Florida small farmers and more.
The Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Conference is hosted by the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and Florida A&M University’s College of Engineering Sciences, Technology and Agriculture.
