UMATILLA — VolunteerLAKE, Lake County’s Volunteer Center, is hosting a “Neighbor to Neighbor” community service event on Saturday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Southside Umatilla Community Center, located at 17107 Ballpark Road.
The daylong event includes:
- Clean Up Umatilla, 9-10 a.m. — Volunteers will help to beautify Umatilla, the “Gateway to the Ocala National Forest” by Taking-A-Bag-For-A-Walk.
- Neighbor Aid, 1-3 p.m. — John Walton presents, “Neighbors Assisting Neighbors.” Learn to work as a team now. Be ready for the aftermath of a disaster. A “Disaster Ready” Neighborhood will be ready to act swiftly, confidently, calmly and safely to provide support while awaiting emergency response.
- Financial Well-Being, 1-3 p.m. — Join Don Schreiner as he provides information and links on where to go free of charge for financial well-being and counseling. Don’t get caught in a scam. Don’t be taken advantage of during financial vulnerability.
