TAVARES — Lake County Park Rangers will lead a nature hike on Saturday, July 17, from 8 to 10 a.m. exploring plants and wildlife at PEAR park, located at 5336 University Ave., Leesburg.
Park rangers will point out birds, plants and other natural features of the park during the 2-mile hike. PEAR Park’s butterfly garden and meadow restoration area feature a variety of birds and butterflies. According to park rangers, the butterflies love the heat of summer and their numbers are peaking. Photo opportunities are available with nearly 50 butterfly species documented at the park.
The 2-mile hike is over flat and even terrain. Participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes. Reservations are required. For more information or reservations, call the Lake County Parks & Trails Division at (352) 253-4950.
