TAVARES — The parking lot of the Lake County Judicial Center is closing Wednesday, July 14, to make room for a 168,000-square-foot addition.
Visitors to the Judicial Center will be encouraged to park in the Lake County Parking Garage, located at Sinclair Avenue in downtown Tavares. The free parking garage includes more than 1,500 spaces and is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays. The parking garage is closed on weekends and holidays, but does feature extended parking hours for downtown Tavares’ events and evening public meetings.
Beginning Wednesday, construction crews will erect fencing along the construction site. Pedestrians making their way to the Judicial Center from the parking garage will have to walk north on Sinclair and then west on Alfred Street to avoid the fenced off construction site.
An eight-passenger golf-cart shuttle will be available to help transport visitors between the Judicial Center and parking garage. The courtesy shuttle will run every 10 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.
