TAVARES — Residents and developers now have access to a new mapping Web site at http://devtrack.lakecountyfl.gov that gives information and the location of proposed commercial and residential developments in unincorporated Lake County.
A consortium of County functions developed the new Development Application Tracker, including the Planning & Community Design Division and Development Processing Section of the Department of Growth Management and the Programming & Application Support Services Division and Geographic Information Services Division of the Department of Information Technology.
“This type of online application has been in demand for some time,” said Angi Thompson, Development Processing Manager. “Most of the information pertaining to proposed developments had to be requested through the Department of Growth Management, which generated a fair amount of phone calls and walk-in visits.”
Using a free Web-based mapping tool, provided by ESRI, staff was able to create an interactive map that displays the location of proposed developments within unincorporated Lake County along with a brief description of the project. There is also a link to the Planning & Community Design Web page on the County’s Web site where the schedule of public hearings is available.
“Anyone with a computer and Internet connection can now view the Development Application Tracker map, locate their neighborhood and see what property is under consideration for development,” said Kevin Willis, Director of the GIS Division. “By clicking on a pin on the map, the user can get the applicant’s name, project number, alternate key and a brief description of the project.”
