TAVARES — More than 75 exhibitors touting environmentally friendly products, services and information will take to Wooton Park, located along Lake Dora in downtown Tavares, for the Third Annual Lake County Green Fair on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“This year’s fair not only promotes local green businesses, it also provides environmental education to Lake County residents, and a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy a fun-filled day of activities,” said Amye King, Director of the Lake County Department of Growth Management and organizer of the event, along with other County employees from the Lake County Green Team.
The fair will have free admission and will feature educational programs and informative displays that highlight best practices in environmental issues. In addition to environmental information shared at the event, the Green Fair provides an opportunity for the community to properly and safely dispose of household hazardous waste, recyclables and old thermometers and thermostats containing mercury. Other fun activities planned for the event include a 5K fun run, a Zumbathon, water taxis between Mount Dora and Tavares, educational plant classes, farmer’s market, greyhound adoption, food vendors and live entertainment provided by Radio Disney.
For children, the Green Fair will feature fun hands-on activities provided by Lowe’s and Home Depot, along with a face painter, and a scavenger hunt.
Sponsors of the Lake County Green Fair are Covanta Lake, Progress Energy, Lake County Department of Health, Lake Jem Farms, Transit Plus, Waste Management, Waste Services, Florida Planning and Zoning Association, Bowen, Radson & Schroth PA, Lake Soil & Water Conservation District, LPG Urban & Regional Planners, CDM, O’Keefe’s Restaurant, SECO, City of Tavares, Lake Magazine, Chevrolet, Radio Disney, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Golden Triangle YMCA, Al’s Landings and Lake County Board of County Commissioners.
