TAVARES — Fairgoers will have the opportunity to get active at the Third Annual Lake County Green Fair on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wooton Park in Tavares with the addition a of a Zumbathon offered by the Golden Triangle YMCA.
“This year, we wanted the Green Fair to not only feature environmental education,” said Amye King, Director of the Lake County Department of Growth Management and organizer of the event, along with other County employees from the Lake County Green Team. “We wanted to encourage healthy living, which is why we are excited to partner with the YMCA on the Zumbathon.”
The Zumbathon, which is an instructor led combination of Zumba dancing and exercise, will be located in the Tavares Station field (behind the Lake County Administration Building) beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sign-up sheets will be available the day of the event at the YMCA exhibitor table. The Golden Triangle YMCA will also be sponsoring child care at the Tavares Station beach volleyball court for Zumbathon participants. All fitness levels are welcome.
The fair features free admission and will showcase educational programs and informative displays. In addition to environmental information, the Green Fair provides an opportunity for the community to properly and safely dispose of household hazardous waste, and old thermometers and thermostats containing mercury. Other fun activities planned for the event include a 5K fun run, free round-trip water taxis between Mount Dora and Tavares, educational plant classes, farmer’s market, greyhound adoption, food vendors and live entertainment provided by Radio Disney.
