TAVARES — Florida’s Interim Secretary of State, Dawn Roberts, has appointed County Commissioner Welton Cadwell to the State Library Council, an advisory board of the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services.
Established by Florida Statutes (Chapter 257.02), this nine-member group is appointed to assist the Division on its programs and activities. “State Library council members assume a valuable and effective role by assisting in the development of the state’s library, archives and records management programs,” wrote Roberts.
During Cadwell’s term as President of the Florida Association of Counties (FAC), he voiced his support for the State Aid to Libraries Grant program, of which Lake County participates, at The State Library and Archives of Florida sponsored Annual Public Library Directors’ conference. He also included library grants as part of the FAC legislative policy document. Cadwell’s appointment to the Council begins immediately, and continues through Nov. 4, 2014.
“I am honored to be chosen to serve on the Council,” Cadwell said. “Libraries are an important asset we have here in Lake County, and it is important that we continue our commitment to offering valuable programs and activities throughout the state.”
