TAVARES —More than 80 exhibitors presenting environmentally friendly products, services and information will be in attendance at Wooton Park, located along Lake Dora in downtown Tavares, for the Third Annual Lake County Green Fair on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The fair, organized by the Lake County Green Team, will have free admission and will feature educational programs and informative displays that highlight best practices in environmental issues. In addition to environmental information shared at the event, the Green Fair provides an opportunity for the community to properly and safely dispose of household hazardous waste, used monofilament fishing line, recyclables and old thermometers and thermostats containing mercury. Other fun activities planned for the event include a Zumbathon led by the Golden Triangle YMCA, water taxis between Mount Dora and Tavares, educational plant classes, farmer’s market, greyhound adoption, food vendors and live entertainment provided by Radio Disney.
A new addition to the fair this year is a 5K Fun Run organized by Lake-Sumter EMS. Sign-up sheets will be available the morning of the event at the picnic pavilion. The start time of the run is 9:15 a.m., with an awards ceremony being held at 10:30 a.m. for the top 3 men and women’s time slots in ages 10-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, and 61 and over.
For children, the Green Fair will feature fun hands-on activities provided by Lowe’s and The Home Depot, along with a face painter, and a scavenger hunt.
