TAVARES — The Lake County Local Mitigation Strategy Working Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec 17 to review the updated Local Mitigation Strategy first established in 1999. The revised plan has been given preliminary approval by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The meeting will take place in the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St., Tavares. The public is invited to attend and provide comments, as the committee will be reviewing mitigation initiatives in the plan that have been brought forward by local municipalities and the County.
The Local Mitigation Strategy is a countywide plan developed with the assistance of local and county government agencies, businesses and residents, to help mitigate risk from natural and manmade disasters. Certain initiatives identified by the Local Mitigation Strategy, if implemented, could lessen the future impact of disasters on the community.
