TAVARES — The Lake County Department of Economic Development & Community Services will be hosting a Bidder’s Conference on Friday, Jan. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m., and a Grant Writing Workshop on Friday, Jan. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon in the auditorium at the Lake County Agricultural Center located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The conference and workshop are to assist those who will be turning in grant applications for available funding up to $25,000 for youth intervention and prevention programs, and up to $10,000 for human services programs. The deadline to submit grant applications is Monday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. Participants at the workshop and conference should thoroughly review the grant requirements and applications before attending, and are welcome to come prepared with questions. The details on the two available grants are as follows:
- CHILDREN'S SERVICES COUNCIL - Youth intervention and prevention programs emphasizing one or more of the following needs: at-risk children of incarcerated parents, physical and inner fitness, nutritional education and reduction of childhood obesity, academic success, school dropout reduction and positive life choices.
$25,000 Maximum Funding
- HUMAN SERVICES - Assisting individuals or families and identify one or more of the following needs: Maintaining a healthy and safe living environment, achieving economic self-sufficiency, prevention or intervention services, reducing barriers to service acquisition and emerging and/or urgent community needs.
$10,000 Maximum Funding
