TAVARES — Sifting through the thousands of Web pages at Lake County Government’s Web site (www.lakegovernment.com) was made easier this week with the installation of a new search box.
The new hardware-software combo of Google Mini allows users to easily locate specific content on the Lake Government Web site with the same simplicity and relevant results as they can on the world’s largest search engine, google.com.
“This is a better system because it provides more accurate results for the user,” said Erikk Ross, Internet Applications Developer for the Lake County Information Outreach Section.
The new capability of the Lake County Government Web site also allows users to search certain sections of the Web site, such as the online calendar or tourism guide. In addition, users can apply the “Advanced Web Search” option to pinpoint more hard-to-find documents and Web pages on the site.
While currently featured on www.lakegovernment.com and www.lakecountyfl.com Web sites, the new search engine capability will be expanded in the future to other Web sites hosted by Information Outreach, such as Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (www.lakesumtermpo.com), Lake-Sumter Emergency Medical Services (www.lakesumterems.org) and Lake County Library System (www.lakeline.lib.fl.us).
