Eligible Capital Projects include support for convention centers, sports stadiums, auditoriums or museums that are publicly owned and operated or by not-for-profit organizations and must be open to the public.
The Capital Project Funding Policy and Guidelines, as well as the application are available on-line at www.lakecountyfl.com/capital_projects_funding_program.aspx. The posted information will instruct potential applicants on how to complete the application as well as answer any questions regarding eligibility, application process, scoring, fiscal reporting requirements and post-approval process. The application deadline for the upcoming cycle is May 25, 2011.
Funding applications for capital projects will be reviewed by Economic Development and Tourism staff, who will present the applications to the Tourist Development Council. Their funding recommendations will be taken to the Board of County Commissioners, who will make the final funding determinations. Representatives of organizations submitting applications may be invited to make personal presentations at the Tourist Development Council and the Board of County Commissioners meetings.
The Lake County Tourist Development Council was established to make recommendations to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners concerning the uses of the tourist development tax revenue in accordance with the Lake County Tourist Development Plan.
The Office of Economic Development and Tourism will continue to provide financial assistance for special events, marketing, attraction of new tourism related events and other programs that generate increased tourism activity and promote overnight stays within Lake County. This funding process affirms the Board of County Commissioners commitment to promote economic growth, economic diversity and strong partnerships. Additionally, this grant policy and application is one of the first goals completed under the new Lake County Economic Development Action Plan that was presented on March 11 and the second Lake County Economic Development Action Workshop.
