LEESBURG — Staff from LakeXpress, Lake County’s public transportation service, is gearing up for its Park N’ Ride and shuttle services that will ferry guests into the crowded streets and venues of downtown Leesburg for the 15th Annual Leesburg Bikefest on April 8-10.
This is the second year that LakeXpress is offering this low-cost shuttle service, which will provide three routes during the Bikefest event. Fares for all routes are $1 each way or $3 for an all-day pass. According to officials from the Lake County Public Transportation Division, the expanded hours will greatly enhance motorist and motorcyclist safety for Bikefest.
“We are excited about offering transit services again during the Bikefest event because safety is a primary concern,” said Ken Harley, Director of the Lake County Public Transportation Division. “By providing transit services, we are anticipating a safer and less congested event for all to enjoy.”
The Gator Express shuttle will run every 20 minutes between downtown Leesburg and Gator Harley-Davidson, located at 1745 U.S. Highway 441. In addition, two other shuttles with 30-minute service will run along U.S. Highway 441 from downtown Leesburg to Holiday Inn Express & Suites located at 1205 Avenida Central North in The Villages and from downtown Leesburg to Florida Hospital Waterman, located at 1000 Waterman Way in Tavares.
A Park N’ Ride location will be offering continuous round-trip shuttle service every 20 minutes into downtown from Leesburg Regional Medical Plaza off of Rambo Street.
The Gator Express Shuttle will operate Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours of operation for the Park N’ Ride, Tavares and Villages shuttles will be Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. (Sat.), Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. (Sun.), and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
