FERNDALE — The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to experience a rare opportunity to view wildlife activity during an evening hike at Ferndale Preserve, located off County Road 455 in South Lake County, on Friday, May 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Participants will enjoy a guided hike to experience the 192-acre preserve come alive with activity during sunset. The preserve, located on the western shore of Lake Apopka, is home to a diverse ecosystem that provides habitat for numerous birds, butterflies, reptiles, mammals and amphibians.
The hike may include uneven or difficult terrain for a distance of over 2 miles. Participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, insect repellent and hiking shoes. Reservations are not required, but are encouraged.
