TAVARES — The Lake County Extension is inviting residents to an upcoming educational program entitled, “Getting the Garden Ready”, on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The program, led by Charles Fedunak, Environmental Horticulture Agent with the University of Florida/Lake County Extension (UF/IFAS), will discuss preparing vegetable gardens for fall planting.
Both new and experienced vegetable gardens will learn tips and advice on how to select the best location in your yard, preparing the soil prior to planting and how to select what to plant. Also covered in the program will be information on pest control management, fertilizing and watering for best production.
Due to limited space for the class, registration is required by Monday, Aug. 8. The fee for the class is $5 at the door, or $6.26 ($5 for the class, plus $1.26 credit card processing fee) if you pre-pay online. To register or pay online, log on to http://veggardenready.eventbrite.com.
