Schedule set for 2012 bi-annual Comprehensive Plan amendment proposals

RELEASE DATE: November 18, 2011

TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners recently approved a bi-annual schedule for those seeking amendments to the adopted Comprehensive Plan.

The primary benefit of adopting a schedule is that it gives those seeking to amend their land use designation in the Comprehensive Plan a timeframe for transmittal and adoption of amendments, and allows County staff adequate time to complete any necessary analysis.

Exemptions from the bi-annual schedule include small-scale amendments that are less than 10 acres, economic development projects and County initiated amendments. The transmittal and adoption schedule for both bi-annual cycles in 2012 are:

First Cycle
Pre-application meeting: Nov. 1 - Dec. 2, 2011
Applications filed: Jan. 1-31, 2012
Land Planning Agency / Zoning Board Meeting: March 7, 2012
Board of County Commissioners Transmittal Hearing: April 24, 2012
Board of County Commissioners Adoption Hearing: July 24, 2012

Second Cycle
Pre-application meeting: April 2 – May 1, 2012
Applications filed: June 1-30, 2012
Land Planning Agency / Zoning Board Meeting: Aug. 7, 2012
Board of County Commissioners Transmittal Hearing: Sept. 25, 2012
Board of County Commissioners Adoption Hearing: Dec. 18 2012
