TAVARES — The Lake County Community Services Department will be hosting a Bidder’s Conference on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 from 9 to 11 a.m., and a Grant Writing Workshop on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 from 8 a.m. to noon in training room A at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The conference and workshop are to assist those who will be turning in grant applications for available funding up to $25,000 for youth intervention and prevention programs, and up to $10,000 for human services programs. The deadline to submit grant applications is Monday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
Participants at the workshop and conference should thoroughly review the grant requirements and applications before attending, and are welcome to come prepared with questions. The details on the two available grants are as follows:
- CHILDREN'S SERVICES COUNCIL - Programs that serve at-risk children to include: safeguarding physical health; abuse and neglect prevention and intervention; delinquency prevention; afterschool and out of school programs; developmental screening, assessments and access to appropriate interventions; prevention and/or intervention; kinship care (grandparents/relatives raising grandchildren); subsidized child care; children with special, physical, developmental and behavioral needs; nutritional education and the reduction of childhood obesity.
$25,000 Maximum Funding
- HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES – Programs that assist individuals / families by providing prevention or intervention services for one of the following emergency needs: rental or mortgage; utilities ; deposits (for both utilities and housing); food; achieving economic self-sufficiency.
$10,000 Maximum Funding
