LEESBURG — The Lake County Parks & Trails Division will hold a Beginning Birders Walk on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (PEAR Park) “Gateway,” located at 26701 U.S. Highway 27 in Leesburg.
Accompanied by Park Rangers, participants will learn the intricacies of identifying common birds, though various methods such as sight and sound, all while enjoying everything the park has to offer.
To maximize the viewing experience, it is recommended that participants bring their own binoculars and field guides. Participants also are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes. Space is limited, so reservations are encouraged.
The “Gateway” represents the front 50 acres of the 318-acre PEAR Park and features numerous recreation and picnic areas, geo-caches, a dog park and access to the park’s hiking and nature trails, among other things.
