EUSTIS – The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to take part in a wildlife hike on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lake May Reserve, located on County Road 44A, northeast of Eustis.
Staff members with Public Lands Management will lead participants on an expedition through some of the most intriguing areas of the 136-acre reserve. It is recommended that participants bring their own binoculars and field guides, to maximize their hiking experience. Participants also are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes.
The Lake May Reserve consists of a natural diverse terrain. The native land features xeric oak hammock, as well as upland scrub, pine and hardwood forested areas. Nestled in the reserve is Lake May, a 20-acre lake that is home to an abundance of wildlife.
