LEESBURG — The Lake County Parks & Trails Division will hold Beginning Birders classes on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (PEAR Park) Nature Center, located at 4800 University Ave. in Leesburg.
With guidance from Parks and Trails staff, participants will be introduced to birding field guides, references, websites and various other sources for bird identification.
This is the second in a series of Beginning Birder classes and field trips. Attendance is free and pre-registration is encouraged, as spaces for the classes are limited.
PEAR Park is the largest County park at 318 acres. The back 268 acres boasts a community garden, native butterfly garden, xeric garden, two scenic pavilions and access to 4 miles of hiking and nature trails. The front 50 acres contains a playground, ball fields and dog park.
