GROVELAND – The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to participate in a wildlife hike on Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Pasture Reserve, located on Lake Erie Road, near Groveland.
Staff from the Parks & Trails Division will lead participants on an excursion through some of the most captivating areas of the over 800-acre reserve. The hike will consist of walking less than 2 miles along unpaved and possible uneven trails.
To maximize their hiking experience, participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and field guides, as well as water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes.
The Pasture Reserve is located within the Florida Forever Green Swamp Project boundary, in what’s considered the heart of the Floridan aquifer. This collection of wetlands and uplands provides an ideal home for the numerous creatures that inhabit it, such as deer, turkeys, alligators and gopher tortoises.
