Park & Trails to lead wildlife hike through Ellis Acres Reserve on March 3

RELEASE DATE: February 23, 2012

PAISLEY – The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to participate in a wildlife hike on Saturday, March 3 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Ellis Acres Reserve, located at 25302 County Road 42 in Paisley.

With guidance from Park Rangers, participants will have an opportunity to explore segments of the over 400-acre reserve and view some of the reserve’s wildlife, which includes black bears, deer and turkeys. The hike will consist of walking less than 2 miles along unpaved and possible uneven trails.

To maximize their hiking experience, participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and field guides, as well as water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes.

Ellis Acres Reserve sits on the western shoreline of Lake Akron and is home to many species of wildlife. It also contains longleaf pine wooded pastures and forested wetlands.

For more information about the wildlife hike or other events, call the Lake County Parks & Trails Division at (352) 253-4950, email parksandtrails@lakecountyfl.gov or log on to www.lakecountyfl.gov/parks.
