TAVARES – As part of the Hickory Point Park 20th Anniversary “Enjoy the Outdoors” campaign, the Lake County Water Authority, in conjunction with the Lake County Parks & Trails Division, will hold an Introduction to Birding Class on Saturday, March 31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hickory Point Park, located at 27341 State Road 19 in Tavares.
With guidance from Lake County Park Ranger Gallus Quigley, participants will get an introduction to the world of bird watching. This free class will cover a wide range of topics such as information on choosing binoculars, bird identification tips, the best times and sites for birding and ways to bring birds to your backyard.
There will also be a guided hike around Hickory Point Park, where participants can practice their newly acquired skills. Partakers are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes.
