TAVARES – The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to attend events for the week of March 12-18. The week’s scheduled events are as follows:
• A ‘Paddling Adventure’ is scheduled for Friday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Haynes Creek Preserve, located at 34606 S. Haines Creek Road in Leesburg.
This paddling trip, led by Lake County Parks & Trails and Water Authority staff, will travel down Haynes Creek along the Haynes Creek Preserve and Flowing Waters Preserve, where participants can catch a glimpse of numerous birds and other wildlife.
The event is free and attendees can bring their own canoe or kayak, or one will be provided. There is also a strict limit of 15 vessels for this event. Reservations are required, as space is limited.
• On Saturday, March 17, ‘Wetland Wander’ is scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Pasture Reserve, located on Lake Erie Road, near Groveland.
On this free expedition, wanderers take an educational hike around the wetland trails of the Reserve, which is located in the Green Swamp, where they can observe Cypress strand, deep-water marsh, wet prairie and more.
