TAVARES—The Lake County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is pleased to present the Community Challenge award to Mary Ann Snyder and the Mount Dora Lowe’s for most referrals to the GO GREEN GET GREEN program.
The GO GREEN GET GREEN program offered rebates to residents and small commercial businesses who installed certain approved ENERGY STAR products. Snyder referred four residents to the program and Ron Millione, a Lowe’s employee, referred 95 people. The County set aside $250 for each Community Challenge winner.
“The program was very successful and we would like to show our appreciation for those who helped spread the word about it,” said Lori Barnes, Sustainability Planner for Lake County. “We are so pleased with those who participated and are happy to name these residents as our Community Challenge winners.”
The Department of Energy awarded Lake County $2.8 million through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. More than $825,000 of those funds were dedicated to the GO GREEN GET GREEN rebate program in July 2011 to increase energy efficiency and create jobs in Lake County. Those funds were distributed by Feb. 7, 2012.
