TAVARES – With the region experiencing moderate to severe drought conditions, Lake County is among several counties that have been placed in the “Very High” wildfire risk condition by the Florida Forest Service.
Unincorporated areas of Lake County remain under a burn ban, imposed in February, which prohibits all outdoor burning that has not been specifically permitted by the Florida Forest Service. This includes burning yard waste, as defined by FAC 62-256.200(19); and bon fires and campfires on private property.
As a result of these extreme conditions, the Florida Forest Service is issuing open burn authorizations under more stringent restrictions.
