Three-day ‘boil water’ notice issued for parts of Umatilla

RELEASE DATE: April 19, 2012

UMATILLA – The Lake County Department of Public Works has issued a “boil water” notice for the next three days for residents living in segments of southern Umatilla.

This advisory affects residents living north of County Road 450A in Umatilla. The streets under this notice include:

• Mills Street
• Pearl Street
• Ball Park Road
• Henry Street
• Caroll Street
• Church Street
• Merrell Avenue
• Tenth Avenue
• Pine Street

Crews worked Thursday morning to resolve an issue with the main pump at the plant, which has been corrected, but residents are being advised to continue to boil their water for three days as a precautionary measure.

During a “boil water” notice, water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient.
The boil-water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe for consumption.

For more information about the “boil water” notice, call the Lake County Department of Public Works at 352-483-9000.
