LakeXpress to celebrate 5th anniversary on May 21

RELEASE DATE: May 18, 2012

TAVARES – LakeXpress, Lake County’s fixed-route public transportation service, will commemorate its 5-year anniversary on Monday, May 21 at the Ardice Avenue and Citizens Boulevard transfer locations.

The celebration begins at the Ardice Avenue transfer location in Eustis from 9 to 11 a.m. and then, from 1 to 3 p.m., moves to the Citizens Boulevard transfer location in Leesburg. Residents will receive tokens for free bus rides and have chances to win various prizes including gift cards, 10-ride bus passes and 30-day bus passes.

Additionally, persons who use LakeXpress can enter the “Xpress Yourself - Tell Your LakeXpress Story” contest, in which they will submit videos, photos, illustrations or essays about the benefits of LakeXpress and why others should use the service.
Contestants will have the opportunity to win a 32-inch Phillips LCD Television, an 8GB Apple iPod Nano, or a Kodak Easyshare M532 Blue Digital Camera. For more details, or to view the official contest rules and conditions, visit www.ridelakexpress.com/xpressyourself.

“Since the start of the service, more than 950,000 passengers have traveled on LakeXpress buses,” said Ken Harley, Manager of the Lake County Public Transportation Division. “We are very excited about the LakeXpress 5-year anniversary, and we want to share that excitement with the residents that we serve."
