TAVARES – The Lake County Board of County Commissioners will hold a Conservation Initiatives Presentation for the newly installed cistern and solar panels at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 31 at the Lake County Agricultural Center’s Horticultural Learning Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The addition of the 1200-gallon cistern was made possible through a $5,000 grant provided by the Lake County Water Authority, as well as an additional $345 provided by the Lake County Master Gardeners.
Funding for the solar panels totaled roughly $80,000, and was provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009’s Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant. The solar panels will generate an estimated 13,968 watts of electricity, and should render the building as a net-zero facility.
