TAVARES – The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to attend events for the week of June 4-9. The week’s scheduled events are as follows:
• A wildlife hike through the Ellis Acres Reserve, located at 25302 County Road 42 in Paisley is scheduled for Friday, June 8 from 8 to 11 a.m.
On this excursion, hikers will explore the wildlife that call the site home, including various species of birds and even bobcats.
• On Saturday, June 9, there will be a Monthly Bird and Butterfly Survey at the Ferndale Preserve, located at 19220 County Road 455 in Ferndale, from 7 to 11 a.m.
This is the monthly census of the birds and butterflies on the preserve and volunteers are encouraged to help Parks Rangers in this effort. Experience is a plus but not required and survey-takers must bring binoculars and field guides.
All events are free and would-be participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes. Reservations are encouraged, but not required.
