UMATILLA – As the community prepares to transition away from Southside Water System services, the Lake County Public Works Department will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, June 27 from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at the Southside Community Center, located at 17107 Ball Park Road in Umatilla to help residents sign-up for water service with the City of Umatilla.
In an effort to meet Florida Department of Environmental Protection standards for water supply and distribution, the change-over will be executed in August 2012, and residents are urged to sign-up for a City of Umatilla account or face being left without water service once the transition is completed.
To sign-up for an account at the public meeting, residents need to bring a photo I.D. and they will be asked to sign a “Right of Entry” form, which will allow the City of Umatilla to make the water connection on their property.
Representatives with the Lake County Public Works Department and the City of Umatilla will be present to answer questions and address concerns pertaining to the change-over.
For more information about the public meeting, call Alan Kirkland, Professional Engineer with the Lake County Public Works Department at 352-483-9000.
