EUSTIS – Lake Technical Center (Lake Tech) recently presented the Lake County Board of County Commissioners with the “Business/Community Partner of the Year” Award, and LakeXpress, Lake County’s fixed-route public transportation service, with its “Business Partner of the Year” Award for adult education.
Dr. Diane Culpepper, Director of Lake Tech, expressed her appreciation to the Board for its continuing community support of economic development initiatives, its assistance with the recently held Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge at Lake Tech’s Institute of Public Safety, and its inclusion of Lake Tech in its Economic Action Plan.
“Lake Tech has been a great partner in our economic development efforts by responding to the workforce needs of Lake County businesses and tailoring their curriculum to equip students with the skills and certifications needed for available jobs,” said Commission Chairwoman Leslie Campione. “The benefits of this partnership are twofold; we are able to connect residents with businesses that are actually hiring and we also facilitate the growth of existing companies which keeps them from leaving Lake County in search of a qualified workforce.”
Lake Tech, a postsecondary education institution, partners with area business and industries to provide 26 career-technical certificate programs, including an LPN dual enrollment program and the Institute of Public Safety.
