LEESBURG – Hometown Health TV, a client of the University of Central Florida (UCF)/Lake County Business Technology Incubator in Leesburg, was recently named the 2012 Outstanding Incubator Client in the nontechnology category by the National Business Incubation Association.
“We congratulate Hometown Health TV for receiving such a tremendous award,” said Scott Blankenship, Director of Lake County’s Office of Economic Development & Tourism. “This is just one example of the great businesses in the incubator program, as we continue to foster entrepreneurship in Lake County.”
Hometown Health TV launched a monthly hour-long video program, entitled “Hometown Health,” which provides health and wellness information through a network of medical office waiting rooms, county health departments, local cable networks and the Internet. The show also offers a way for area health-care professionals to share their expertise on various issues pertaining to health.
Lake County’s incubator program encourages the growth and advancement of start-up companies by providing business tools, training and infrastructure. The incubator located in Leesburg, was the first to open in Lake County, and is a joint partnership between Lake County, UCF and the City of Leesburg. Lake County recently opened its second incubator program in Groveland, in partnership with Lake-Sumter State College, and is currently planning the expansion of a third location in Eustis.
