LEESBURG – The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to participate in a nature hike on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 8 to 10 a.m. through the Haynes Creek Preserve, located at 34606 S. Haines Creek Road in Leesburg.
On this guided excursion, Park Rangers will lead hikers as they explore various areas within the 36-acre site. Situated along Haynes Creek, the preserve’s landscape mainly consists of wet deciduous forest. It is also a known habitat for an abundance of wildlife including river otters, Prothonotary Warblers, Barred Owls and over 20 species of butterflies.
This event is free, and would-be participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes. Reservations are recommended, but not required.
