UMATILLA – In celebration of Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play, DTennis will host a United States Tennis Association (USTA) Free Tennis Play Day on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at North Lake Community Park, located at 40730 Roger Giles Road in Umatilla. This initiative is an effort to help kids get active and involved, with September being National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.
The event is open to the public, and provides children and adults of all skill levels with the opportunity to experience tennis in a social and fun setting. Participants will take part in various tennis games and skill challenges, which can be done individually or in teams.
The USTA Free Tennis Play Day aims to encourage more kids to play tennis and places great emphasis on family participation, effort and sportsmanship. With youth being the primary focus, simplified scoring, smaller courts, shorter and lighter rackets and slower-bouncing balls will be used to help children learn the nuances of the game easily and quickly.
DTennis is a professional tennis management and instructional company that serves the Central Florida area, offering adult and junior tennis lessons for beginners and advanced-level players.
