LEESBURG — The Lake County Probation Services Division, in cooperation with Partners Investing in People and Goodwill Job Connection Center, will host a Community Resource and Career Fair on Friday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Venetian Gardens’ Community Center located at 109 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg.
The free event brings together over 50 agencies to aid disadvantaged citizens seeking self- improvement opportunities, as well as their family members and the community at-large.
Some services and information provided at the event include assistance with employment, education, health care, driver’s licenses/ID, substance abuse recovery, transportation, legal aid, housing services, victim assistance, veteran services, interactive workshops and more. Numerous employers are expected to be on site to accept applications for current vacancies.
“Government agencies alone can’t respond to the complex needs of many people involved in our legal system”, said Tony Deaton, Lake County’s Chief Probation Officer. “The purpose of this event is to enhance community safety by empowering citizens who are striving to become productive members of our community, while reducing the likelihood of criminal justice system involvement.”
