SORRENTO — The Lake County Department of Public Works, Parks and Trails Division, is hosting a public meeting to discuss the future of a new park in the Sorrento community on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Sorrento Christian Center, located at 32441 N. County Road 437.
The proposed 49-acre park is located off County Road 437, between Olmac and Wallick roads. At the meeting, the Parks and Trails Division will present conceptual plans for the park that include several ball fields, running track, dog park and skate park. Ultimately, the public will decide what the most needed recreational elements in the community are.
“This area of the County is desperately in need of active recreation,” said Bobby Bonilla, Director of the Lake County Parks and Trails Division. “The future development of this property is what we are asking the residents to comment on.”
After the public meeting with the community, the Lake County Parks and Trails Division, along with a contracted consulting company, will design plans for the park. The plans will then be presented to the Board of County Commissioners for approval.
